Core
The Core is an impressive base trim. It’s equipped with nice features such as fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and power-adjustable front seats. But Volvo takes it a step further by giving this entry-level trim a panoramic sunroof, ambient interior mood lighting, and remote keyless entry). It has some sophisticated tech, too, including a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a new 9-inch touchscreen Google Built-in (Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play Store) infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, a 10-speaker audio system, and Bluetooth. In the advanced safety technology category, the Core gets blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, lane keeping assist, oncoming lane mitigation, and road sign assist.
Plus
The Plus is upgraded with a deluxe ambient interior lighting system, leather upholstery, and one-touch folding rear seats with electronically folding outer rear head restraints. Its bundle of safety aids adds adaptive cruise control with lane keeping assist (Pilot Assist), driver attention monitoring, front and side parking sensors, and a surround-view camera.
Ultimate
All XC40 Recharge trims have the latest safety and driver support technologies. This equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, oncoming lane mitigation, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, cruise control, road sign recognition, and rear parking sensors. Also standard are multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), hill descent control, hill start assist, and a rearview monitor. The Plus and Ultimate get a surround-view monitor and all-side parking assist. Adaptive cruise control and Pilot Assist (Volvo's semi-autonomous driving system) are found exclusively with the Ultimate trim.
