Trims and Powertrain
Volvo offers five versions of the 2025 XC60 Plug-in Hybrid: Core, Plus, Ultra, Ultra Black Edition, and Polestar Engineered. Their T8 powerplant pairs a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a plug-in hybrid electric system. The combined output reaches 455 horsepower, enabling the XC60 Plug-in Hybrid to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. All-wheel drive (AWD) comes standard and is managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission.
In all-electric mode, the XC60 PHEV can travel 35 miles and is EPA-rated for 63 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent). When it’s being powered by gasoline, the EPA-estimated fuel efficiency is 28 miles per gallon (combined city and highway). There is 63.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the front seats.
Standard Features
Volvo decks out the Core trim with an extensive roster of standard amenities, including a power panoramic sunroof, choice of City Weave Textile or leatherette upholstery, heated front seats with power controls, a hands-free tailgate, a driver's position memory system, and dual-zone automatic climate control. It also has proximity keyless entry, Thor’s Hammer LED headlights, retractable side mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and side mirrors, power-folding rear headrests, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, roof rails, rear privacy glass, four USB ports (two per row), and 18-inch alloy wheels. The Plus gets leatherette upholstery, upgraded cabin lighting, a cabin air purifier, a power child safety lock, and 19-inch wheels.
The Ultra gets Nappa leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a head-up display, additional front seat functionality (a power driver's cushion extension, power side bolsters, and additional power lumbar controls), a front passenger seat memory system, driftwood cabin accents, a tailored dashboard, an Orrefors genuine crystal gear-selector knob, and 20-inch wheels. The Ultra Black Edition is the same except for black-finished exterior accents and 21-inch wheels. The Polestar Engineered trim takes performance and comfort to the next level with advanced chassis tuning, a heated steering wheel, exclusive upholstery (a combination of Nappa leather, leatherette, and textiles), enhanced heated front seats, trim-specific interior and exterior treatments, headlight cleaners, and 21-inch wheels.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
All 2025 XC60 Plug-in Hybrid trims are outfitted with Volvo’s state-of-the-art safety technologies. These features consist of forward collision warning (with vehicle/cyclist/pedestrian/large animal detection), automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring with steer assist, cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, oncoming lane mitigation (with steering support), rear collision mitigation support, rear parking sensors, and road sign information. The 2025 XC60 Plug-in Hybrid hosts a 9-inch portrait-style touchscreen to support its infotainment features. The system is enhanced by Google built-in features (such as Google Maps and Google Assistant), Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth, and access to the Volvo Cars smartphone app for remote services. Audio comes through a ten-speaker sound system in the Core and Plus, while the Ultra and Ultra Black Edition have a 14-speaker Harman Kardon arrangement (optional for the Plus).
