2024 Volvo EX30 Preview

Bigger doesn’t necessarily always mean better, as is evidenced by the upcoming 2024 Volvo EX30. While it’s about to become the smallest model in Volvo’s world-class lineup, rest assured that this EV will have loads to offer. From its captivating exterior design to its selection of zero-emission powertrains, the EX30 should become one of the automotive market’s hottest commodities. It will have the lowest carbon footprint of any Volvo to date, while helping to fulfill the company’s goal of becoming a carbon-neutral car brand.

Small in Size, Big on Options

One of the core facets of the EX30, alongside its sustainability, is versatility. For one thing, Volvo will offer it with three powertrain choices and two different battery types. The first and most cost-effective option will consist of a single motor and a standard-range battery, which will be ideal for drivers who don’t require the upper limits of range or power. That said, this single-motor EX30 will be eligible for an extended-range battery that can provide more range (up to 275 miles). If performance is a priority, buyers can choose a dual-motor all-wheel drive variant that generates 428 hp and can reach 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. Volvo says that an EX30 plugged into a public DC fast charger can go from a 10 to 80 percent charge in just 26.5 minutes.

Designed to Thrill

Volvo left nothing to be desired when designing the highly anticipated 2024 EX30. Its elegant exterior will show off attention-getting attributes, such as a closed-shield front end, prominent wheels, and a digital interpretation of the exclusive Thor’s Hammer headlights. The paint palette will offer five distinct color options: Vapour Gray, Onyx Black, Moss Yellow, Crystal White, and Cloud Blue.

The cabin experience willbe equally sensational, thanks to a spacious and purposeful layout. Volvo is using both natural and recyclable materials, and buyers will have the option of choosing from four distinct cabin designs called Breeze, Mist, Pine, and Indigo. Although the EX30 is a compact vehicle, it’s been designed to make the most of its space, with clever storage solutions spread throughout the interior. Even the cargo area (which provides up to 31.9 cubic feet of space) has a handy load floor with a hidden storage compartment for those who need to stash additional items.

A bit after the initial release, a stunning Cross Country version of the ’24 EX30 will follow, differentiated by higher ground clearance, 19-inch black wheels, skid plates, black exterior detailing, and unique branding that includes a special hood-mounted Swedish flag.

Multimedia and Other Technology

The infotainment system in the ’24 EX30 will be state-of-the-art, combining Google Built-in services (Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play) with Snapdragon-powered software. The fully customizable, tablet-like 12.3-inch touchscreen will unite all of its features, which will also include over-the-air updates and a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot. Volvo has thoughtfully added a special calm view setting that will hide everything but the essential driver information to declutter the display and minimize distraction.

Other interior features of note will include a squared-off sport-style steering wheel, slim ergonomic front seats, a wireless phone charger, ambient interior lighting, four USB-C ports, and a 12V power outlet located in the load compartment. For optimal comfort and convenience, the ’24 EX30’s front seats and steering wheel will also have a thermo-sensor that will turn up the heat when the temperature drops below 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

Safety Tech

A comprehensive package of protective safety aids will be standard in the 2024 Volvo EX30 (a collision avoidance system, driver attention monitoring, door opening alert, and a surround-view camera). Not only that, but it will be the first Volvo to include the latest version of Park Pilot Assist, which can handle a full range of complicated parking maneuvers without any driver intervention. Park Pilot Assist will even be able to identify parking spaces nearby, and once one is selected on the high-tech 3D interface, the EX30 will automatically move to its place in the vacant spot.
