2025 Volvo XC60
Volvo’s strong-selling midsized crossover, the XC60, has returned for model year 2025 with its usual sharp looks and signature Thor’s hammer headlights. Another Volvo hallmark, an interior awash in Scandinavian design, complements the XC60’s sculptured exterior. What also makes this model stand out is its wide array of premium standard features, such as a panoramic sunroof and hands-free liftgate. For the 2025 model year, Volvo has rebranded the top-of-the-line Ultimate grade as the Ultra (along with the appearance-focused Ultra Black Edition). On this page we cover the regular 2025 Volvo XC60. Look for our separate overview of the T8 AWD plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

Trims and Powertrain
Volvo makes four trim packages for the 2025 XC90: Core, Plus, Ultra, and Ultra Black Edition. They all have a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine enhanced with a mild-hybrid system to maximize efficiency. This powerplant puts out 247 horsepower that’s channeled to the four-wheel drivetrain via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The EPA has estimated fuel economy for all trims at 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. When it’s properly equipped, the XC60 can tow up to 3,500 pounds. There's a maximum amount of 63.3 cubic feet of cargo space when the rear seats are folded down.
Standard Features
The Core trim is lushly equipped with a power panoramic sunroof (with a power sunshade), City Wave Textile or leatherette upholstery, heated power-adjustable front seats, a hands-free tailgate, a driver's position memory system, and dual-zone automatic climate control. This base version also gets LED headlights, fog lights, proximity keyless entry, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, retractable side mirrors, auto-dimming rearview and side mirrors, power-folding rear headrests, roof rails, rear privacy glass, four USB ports (two per row), and 18-inch alloy wheels. The Plus trim is improved with leather upholstery, laminated side-window glass, a cabin air purifier, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The Ultra goes even further upscale with Nappa leather upholstery, front passenger seat-position memory, quad-zone automatic climate control, enhanced front seats (heat/ventilation, power cushion extensions and side support, and additional power lumbar controls), a head-up display, a tailored dashboard, an Orrefors crystal gearshift knob, a 12-volt outlet in the cargo area, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The Ultra Black Edition is differentiated by its unique exterior treatments and 21-inch alloy wheels. All trims are eligible for the Climate Package, which adds a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and high-pressure headlight cleaners. Other options include an integrated second-row child booster seat, an active chassis with air suspension, and massaging front seats (Ultra/Ultra Black Edition only).
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
As expected, Volvo includes plenty of safety features in the 2025 XC60, starting with a full set of airbags plus anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a rearview monitor. The standard suite of advanced safety technology consists of forward collision warning (with vehicle/cyclist/pedestrian/large animal detection), automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring with steer assist, cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, rear parking sensors, and road sign information. The Plus and above also get the Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving system, adaptive cruise control, a surround-view monitor, and four-side parking sensors.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A 9-inch portrait-style touchscreen anchors the XC60’s Google built-in infotainment system and is used to manage its components. Those include Google Maps, Google Assistant, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Apple CarPlay. All trims have access to remote services through the Volvo Cars smartphone app. A multi-speaker audio system is also standard equipment, but it’s upgraded to a Harman Kardon system in the Ultra and Ultra Black Edition (it’s an option for the Plus trim).
