The ‘23 XC90 places a premium on luxury, as demonstrated by the high-end features in the base-level Core trim. It gets a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, fog lights, roof rails, synthetic-leather upholstery, a tailored steering wheel and gear selector, aluminum interior accents, heated and power-adjustable front seats, position memory for the driver’s seat, power-folding outer rear head restraints, a hidden cargo-area storage compartment, rain-sensing wipers, interior mood lighting, a 12-volt power outlet, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, and a Google-based infotainment system with Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a 10-speaker sound system.

The Plus adds a heated steering wheel, integrated headlight cleaners, expanded interior mood lighting, wood interior trim, leather upholstery, and heated rear seats. The Ultimate comes with rear sunshades, a head-up display, ventilated Nappa-leather upholstery, gray wood interior trim, an elegant gear selector by Orrefors, a powered cushion extender for the driver’s seat, position memory for the front passenger’s seat, and a top-shelf 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with an air-ventilated subwoofer.

Advanced Safety Systems

Safety has long been Volvo’s hallmark, and as such, several advanced driving aids are standard in the ‘23 XC90. The Core gets adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assist, road sign recognition, and oncoming lane mitigation. Upgrades

The 2023 Volvo XC90 can be bolstered with a few signature upgrade packages. Two are offered for the Core: Climate and Protection Premier. The Protection Premier Package bundles a plastic luggage mat, rubberized floor mats, a first aid kit, a stainless-steel bumper cover, and wheel locks. A 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio system is available as a separate option. Since the Plus already has the contents of the Climate Package, it’s only eligible for the Protection Premier Package and Harman Kardon sound system. The Ultimate is entitled to the Protection Premier Package, too, as well as the Lounge Package (a suede-like headliner and massaging front seats). For a more deluxe listening experience, Volvo offers a 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
