The 2024 Volvo S60 is a stately Scandinavian sedan that stands to improve every facet of your driving
experience. Its graceful design and luxurious yet minimalist cabin represent the automaker’s commitment
to European elegance and comfort. Plus, the S60 maximizes fuel economy with its efficient mild hybrid
powertrain: the EPA’s estimates for the model reach as high as 26 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the
highway.
For the 2024 model year, there are a few updates for the S60. The Dark Exterior theme, characterized by
black exterior accents, is now standard across all trims, and Vapour Gray Metallic paint option has been
added to the palette. The Climate Package, which is available for every trim, now contains heated rear
seats, while the mid-range Plus now has a standard air purifier.
Trims, Powertrain, and Fuel Economy
Volvo offers the 2024 S60 in three trim packages, called Core, Plus, and Ultimate. They all have the brand’s B5 powertrain, consisting of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (output: 247 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque) and an 8-speed automatic transmission. While the Core and Plus get standard front-wheel drive, they’re eligible for all-wheel drive, which is standard in the Ultimate. The S60 earns high praise on the fuel economy front, too, returning 26 city/35 highway with FWD and 25 city/33 highway with AWD, according to the official estimates conducted by the EPA.
Standard and Available Features
Being a Volvo, the Core is outfitted better than most base trims, getting ergonomically designed front
seats (power adjustable), dual-zone automatic climate control, a tailored steering wheel and shift knob,
a panoramic sunroof, fog lights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, an
auto-dimming rearview mirror, and ambient interior lighting. The Plus adds even more luxury with
proximity keyless entry, an air purifier, an expanded ambient interior lighting system, leather
upholstery, a HomeLink universal garage door opener, and one-touch folding rear seatbacks.
The Ultimate represents the zenith of refinement for the S60, adding heated front seats, quad-zone
automatic climate control, a head-up display, an elegantly tailored dashboard, power cushion extension
for the driver’s seat, position memory for the front passenger’s seat, and a 12V power outlet. The
Climate Package is optional for each trim to outfit it with heated front and rear seats, a heated
steering wheel, and headlamp cleaners.
Advanced Driving Aids
Upholding Volvo’s commitment to passenger safety, the 2024 S60 receives a generous supply of standard driver-assist features, including blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assist, oncoming lane mitigation, rear parking sensors, and road sign display. The Plus and Ultimate gain front and side parking sensors, a surround-view monitor, and adaptive cruise control with Pilot Assist, which assists in maintaining a safe following distance from the lead vehicle.
Infotainment and Connectivity
All ’24 S60 trims have a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen with Google built-in; this includes a 4-year trial to Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play Store. The other components are Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM satellite radio. While the Core and Plus get a good-quality 10-speaker sound system, the Ultimate moves to a superior 14-speaker Harman Kardon unit with an air-ventilated subwoofer. This feature is optional for the Plus, while the Ultimate qualifies for a further upgrade to a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins setup.
